Headcanoning that Buggy absolutely grew up into the type of man Shanks goes wild for. I personally hc Shanks as gay af and his taste in men is varied. Place for everything. Big men with soft voices and large bellies, short spunky guys with tickets to the gunshow, men that are just downright beautiful and regal looking like porcelain dolls, he has more than one type.

But when it all comes down to it he always had the hots for guys that get this balancing act right, men that seem to play with types effortlessly, pretty but rugged, masculine and feminine, men that seem to be an amalgamation of imperfections that somehow just adds to the full, utterly perfect picture, like paintings that look like nothing much when you see them up close until you take your time to appreciate all the brushstrokes before you step back and see the absolutely showstopping image in full.

So when he sees this man again, with his ridiculous nose and his strong jaw, long hair still cascading from his hat in two luxurious ponytails, body and face freed from all the baby fat he still had in his teens, with just the fucking perfect amount of body hair and stubble, wearing goddamn mascara to make his pretty lashes on his pretty fucking manic blue eyes even longer, Shanks has several thoughts going trough his head.
